In 2017, Seabrooks merged with another developer, a move that created greater capacity to serve a wider and more diverse range of clients. This strategic partnership marked a significant step in the company’s history, as it began to pivot toward expanding into new vertical markets, including foundations, associations, and local governments. This expansion was a key part of the challenge that this new website was designed to solve.

THE CHALLENGE

For decades, Seabrooks dominated the grant management software space by serving the unique needs of United Way. But with the market growing crowded with new competitors, our challenge was to pivot their position, expand their reach into new industries, and prove their solution was not just a fit—but the best fit—for a broader audience.

THE SOLUTION

Working with marketing partner NewmanGrace, here’s how we solved the challenge of expanding beyond their United Way customer base:

Refocused Target Audience: Instead of exclusively featuring United Way, the website now prominently lists four distinct audiences:

  • United Ways
  • Foundations
  • Associations & Alliances
  • Local Government This strategic change immediately signals to prospective clients that the software is a viable solution for a wider range of organizations, not just United Way chapters.

Broadened Messaging: The website’s messaging is no longer United Way-specific. It uses more universal language about grant management, with a clear focus on core benefits that resonate with all four target audiences, such as:

  • Simplifying and streamlining processes.
  • Improving collaboration and communication.
  • Enabling data-driven decisions. This new messaging addresses the increased competition by directly speaking to the common pain points of a wider market.

Highlighted a Diversified Product Suite: The website showcases two distinct products, e-CImpact and i-CResults, which are presented as solutions for different aspects of grant management. This demonstrates a robust and flexible platform that can be tailored to various needs, rather than a single-purpose tool for a specific customer. This approach helps them compete by proving their ability to handle the diverse requirements of new markets.
